At this workshop, Yubis Lopez will provide you with a multi-layered presentation including:

  • A general overview of organizing your classroom for remote learning 

  • A deep dive into engaging your K-12 learners in Google Classroom  

  • Applying and understanding best practices for learning across various blended learning environments 

  • Best practices for supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) when teaching with Google Classroom or with other remote learning tools 

  • Creating a virtual/distance learning environment that is accessible and inclusive for all ELL students and all students with disabilities 

  • A look at formative assessment tools for synchronous instruction 

  • A comparison of synchronous vs asynchronous online learning 

  • Additional tips and tricks for teaching and engaging K-12 learners through Google Classroom.

Presenter:

Yubis Lopez is a NYC Department of Education English as a New Language  (ENL) teacher. She has been teaching in the department for over 15 years both as a paraprofessional and as a teacher. Ms. Lopez teaches students with autism and provides them with opportunities to become creative individuals through the use of technology. She pushes their creativity by teaching robotics and Lego Creations via her ELL afterschool program.

Ms. Lopez also partakes in creating and leading professional development workshops at Google Educator Groups (GEG’s), Apple After Hours, Microsoft Meet Ups, ISTE, and NYC Schools' Tech Summit where she influences teachers with new techniques and tips on how to improve teaching and learning in 21st century classroom.

NOTE:  All you need is a device with internet connection to stream it live online.
